Think back to the best gift you’ve ever received (we hope it’s not too far back). What made it special? The expense in purchasing it? It’s scalable value today? I’m guessing your favorite present wasn’t your favorite because you approached it with the mindset of a stock broker. What makes a gift memorable is the thought behind it. Someone wants you to be happy.
The same sort of thought and consideration should go in to your customers if you’d like to maintain them. Retailers have discovered that sending out emails to recent customers with suggestions of products they might enjoy has warranted success. Retailers have begun using “transactional history and social data to send customized offers and product recommendations to customers, based on what they have liked in the past.”
But is it effective? The answer is yes, absolutely. In the past year, 44% of email recipients made at least one purchase based on a promotional email. In fact, consumers who buy products that they were notified of through email spend 138% more than those who don’t receive promotional emails. Email is the second biggest influencer in purchase decision, second only to the suggestions of friends (Adobe “2013 Digital Publishing Report: Retail Apps & Buying Habits”).
Fortunately, our developers anticipated this. We created email marketing templates within our tool, to help facilitate the courting of consumers. Within ecomdash, you can send out emails based on the product SKU of what each customer purchased previously. Customize emails with your own branding, and begin fostering a relationship with your customers. As a small to midsized business, the longevity and loyalty of customers is essential. Let them know you’re thinking of them. Don’t let them go.
